Community Ambassadors

SPSFNWA Community Ambassadors is made up of supporters who display qualities of leadership, expertise, wisdom, and community contacts which can build the effectiveness and reputation of the organization.  New prospective members complete an application and then meet with the CEO and may renew annually as often as they wish to remain involved. 

Purpose:

Community Ambassadors serve to unite diverse volunteers who will work together to support and help advance the mission of SPSFNWA by building relationships with community partners and individuals to increase financial support and promote awareness of the organization’s programs and services.

Responsibilities & Expectations: 

Each member is asked to participate in a minimum of four (4) activities to support the organization during the course of the year (striving for more is always encouraged).

Options include:

  • Attend quarterly Ambassador meetings 
  • Participate in applicant interviews (held annually in April, July & November)
  • Support the organization’s fundraising activities 
  • Serve on a volunteer committee
  • Speak on behalf of the organization at community events
  • Serve as honorary hosts of SPSFNWA special events
  • Contribute an individually agreed upon amount annually through a personal gift 
  • Contribute skills and resources for SPSFNWA events and activities
  • Promote SPSFNWA to others who might be interested in supporting our organization

Estimated Commitment to the Program: Two to three hours per quarter. Ambassadors will be asked to renew their ambassador agreements annually. SPSFNWA’s Responsibilities to Community Ambassadors:

  • Volunteer orientation for all members
  • Create and send meeting notices and agendas 
  • Maintain records and notes of all meetings
  • Send quarterly updates regarding SPSFNWA’s current happenings and volunteer opportunities
  • Direct activities and focus of the meetings to ensure alignment with SPSFNWA’s mission, vision, and values

SPSFNWA Alumni Network

Single Parent Scholarship Fund of NWA’s Alumni Network is comprised of graduates of the SPSF programs of Northwest Arkansas who display qualities of leadership, expertise, wisdom, and who aim to help build the effectiveness and reputation of SPSFNWA and encourage its current recipients.

The Purpose:

The Alumni Network serves to unite program graduates who will work together to support and help advance the mission of SPSFNWA by encouraging current recipients, contributing to the sustainability and long-term success of the program, and building relationships within the community to increase support and promote awareness of SPSFNWA.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Contingent upon organizational needs, Alumni Network volunteer opportunities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Awareness: Raise awareness of SPSFNWA throughout the community
  • Recipient Support: Encourage current recipients and refer applicants
  • Event Support: Attend SPSFNWA events and activities as volunteer and/or mentor to recipients
  • Speakers Bureau: Willing to share your success story with recipients, alumni, the community, and/or the media 
  • Networking Opportunities:
    1. Alumni Network meetings
    2. Network Events with other alumni and current recipients
  • Donations:
    1. In-kind donations like the recipient pantry and/or back to school event
    2. Monetary donations to fund the Alumni Endowed Scholarship

Sustaining Scholars Society

The Single Parent Scholarship Fund of NWA’s Sustaining Scholars Society is a group of committed donors who have pledged to make a recurring monthly gift of any amount.

Purpose:

By joining this society, donors provide the vital, ongoing support that fuels our mission to empower the next generation of leaders through education. These contributions directly impact single-parent students, helping them create brighter futures for their families.

Volunteers

Volunteers are pivotal to the success of our recipients. At SPSFNWA we utilize volunteers to mentor our program scholars, and serve as Community Ambassadors and Board of Directors. Other opportunities include scholarship interviews and providing assistance at special events; like any non-profit, volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization.
