Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Northwest Arkansas is helping our single-parent families begin the school year prepared and confident.
Our annual Back-to-School Supply Drive provides scholarship recipients and their children with backpacks and essential school supplies. We are incredibly grateful to Coldwell Banker, whose continued support helps make this event possible year after year. We also want to thank the many community partners, donors and volunteers who contributed supplies, gave financially and helped prepare everything for distribution.
This year, we added a little friendly competition with our Backpack Challenge. Members of our Board of Directors, Alumni Network and Community Ambassadors were each challenged to collect 50 backpacks.
All three groups reached their goal, collecting an incredible 182 backpacks together!
- Board of Directors: 77 backpacks
- Alumni Network: 55 backpacks
- Community Ambassadors: 50 backpacks
Congratulations to our Board of Directors for earning the top spot, and thank you to everyone who participated. The friendly competition was fun, but the greatest victory belongs to the families who will receive the supplies they need for a successful start to the school year.
For single parents pursuing higher education, back-to-school season can place additional strain on an already carefully managed household budget. Between tuition, textbooks, transportation, childcare and everyday expenses, purchasing school supplies for one or more children can quickly become overwhelming.
This drive helps ease that financial burden while ensuring children have the tools they need to walk into the classroom ready to learn. It also allows parents to remain focused on their own educational goals, knowing their children are prepared for the school year ahead.
A backpack filled with supplies represents more than pencils, notebooks and folders. It offers relief for a parent, excitement for a child and a meaningful reminder that their community is cheering them on.
